Florida Concrete & Products Association awards winners
of the 2011 FC&PA Essay Research Scholarship

 

2011 marked the start of a new award given by the FC&PA, the annual Essay Research Scholarship.  Students from among some of Florida's top Universities, were invited to participate for the chance at a college scholarship and many answered the call.  This year's topic asked for students to give their own personal view of what the concrete industry will look like in 2030 through innovation, sustainability, design and economic impact.  Upon receiving the applications and essays, a committee was tasked with choosing the winners.  After careful consideration three winners were chosen for this year's award.

 

The winners were then invited to the FC&PA's 57th Annual Convention to attend the association's general business meetings and be recognized before the group.  Winners of this years award were:

 

       
     1st Place:  Joseph Burgett,    University of Florida

 

     2nd Place:  Marcus Motes, University of Florida

     3rd Place:  Alejandro Estrella, University of Central Florida
