About Us
Our History
The Florida Concrete & Products Association (FC&PA) was founded in the late 1950's when a group of concrete producers realized the need for a cooperative effort to promote their products throughout the state.
That original group, which number only 10 companies, started off on a journey that would eventually grow into the pre-eminent state concrete and concrete products association in the country. As it grew, it was incorporated in 1956 and continued to add members and product categories. Today, with a membership of more than 175, the FC&PA is a multi-faceted trade association headquartered in Orlando, Fla. It represents companies statewide that produce ready-mixed concrete, concrete pipe, cement, aggregate (limestone and sand), concrete masonry and admixtures (chemicals) for concrete. The vast majority of the commercial, residential and governmental building projects and the highway, street and airport pavement improvements that are constructed annually are accomplished with materials produced by our members. There are approximately 12,000 people employed directly in the industry and at least another 10,000 that are indirectly affiliated. The FC&PA through its eight promotional regions is actively involved in marketing, promotions, training and education. Routinely our regional promotional committees sponsor product demonstrations, training seminars and education opportunities for our customers - both present and prospective. The Association is continually involved with the state's major universities ensuring that architectural, engineering and building construction students are exposed to current technical information on aggregates, cement, concrete and concrete products. Another major area of involvement deals with the environmental issues which affect our industry and the quality of life in our state. We have made it our business to insure that our members are environmentally responsible by proactively supporting the important issues of ground water, wet-lands, preservation and conservation of our other natural resources. |
